During the week of April 7 all students in grades five through eight will be participating in the AIMS assessment. The purpose of this assessment is to determine your son/daughter’s level of achievement in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, and science.
The data collected from your child’s participation in the assessment is used to meet his/her specific learning needs. In order to collect the most accurate data on your child, attendance during this week of testing is critical. For this reason, we ask that you do not plan vacations nor schedule medical/dental appointments during this time.
The specific dates for state testing are:
April 7: AIMS Writing for grades 5, 6, and 7 and AIMS Science for grades 5 and 8
April 8: AIMS Reading and Math Part 1 for grades 5 through 8
April 9: AIMS Reading and Math Part 3 for grades 5 through 8
If you have any questions about these assessments, please feel free to visit the Parents page of the Arizona Department of Education. There you can familiarize yourself with the AIMS test as well as next year’s test, the PARCC assessment, and the Arizona College and Career Readiness standards.
As always, feel free to give us a call in the administrative offices so that we can better answer any question you may have.
