A Message from the Principal

Riverside GazetteDear Kings Ridge Preparatory Family and Friends,

It is my pleasure to announce that the students at Kings Ridge earned the “B” label for their academic performance on the 2012-2013 AIMS assessment. Thanks to the hard work and commitment of the staff at Kings Ridge for helping make this possible.

As principal, I have been instrumental in the management of the school and training of staff in their approach to their work with a high standard of excellence. Teachers are encouraged to treat each child as special thus ensuring personal care for each student. Discipline is firm and is paramount in our school. Implementing strong leadership and focus on our teaching strategies means that our teachers become counselor, supervisor, and friend to the students. This inspires and motivates maximum learning and promotes respect for leadership. There must be clear distinction of roles or the children have no boundaries, becoming disrespectful and both teaching and learning becomes almost impossible. This sends out the wrong message and causes the teacher/student relationship to regress rather than progress.

Moving forward, we have already begun fine-tuning our curriculum and processes to enhance the school experience of our students. Over the past year, our teachers and the district leadership team have had several conversations on ways that the school can improve beyond this. In 2013-14, we will place greater emphasis at all levels to build up our students’ capacity beyond just the academic areas. Leadership and organizational skills will feature strongly in their co-curricular education. In a world that is becoming increasingly inter-connected through technologies, we believe that such competencies will put our students in good stead.

It is my hope that each student will benefit from their time spent at Kings Ridge Preparatory Academy and that they will find it both a fruitful and rewarding experience.
